Clear Energy Group took part in the Biomethane and Green Hydrogen Business Forum

Clear Energy Group took part in the Biomethane and Green Hydrogen Business Forum within the framework of the Europe for Ukraine project, organised by the European Energy Community and held in Vienna on 27 September 2023.

During the forum, Andriy Grinenko, a shareholder of the company, presented the Group and the innovative technology for the production of Bio-LNG without the use of refrigerants, which is already being produced by one of the group’s divisions.

The main refrigerant in this technology is air, which is not subject to F-gas regulation and is the best replacement for existing refrigerants, providing complete cooling, power and safety of the process. This technology also provides for low energy consumption, reduced operating costs and safe and stable operation of the equipment.

The Group is already able to supply biomethane liquefaction equipment with a capacity of 125 kg to 1000 kg per hour to external customers.

It should be noted that today biomethane production in the EU is growing rapidly (according to the European Biogas Association, Europe could produce up to 41 billion cubic metres of biomethane (400 TWh) by 2030 through anaerobic digestion and gasification), and at the same time, heavy transport is looking for alternatives to fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One such fuel is BioNG, which is produced from biomethane and has a number of advantages over fossil fuels (diesel):

  • Lower carbon emissions (has more than 80% lower CO2 emissions);
  • Reduces engine noise (50% less noise and vibration compared to diesel engines);
  • Less nitrogen oxide emissions (LPG trucks are much more environmentally friendly than Euro VI diesel trucks);
    Fewer emissions of dispersed particles;
  • BioLNG is safer than many other fuels;
  • The energy density of BioLNG is 60 per cent higher than that of diesel fuel (trucks running on BioLNG have a longer range and can cover up to 1500 kilometres on a single refuelling).It is important that the forum drew attention to specific topics and provided an opportunity for market players and government institutions to hold a bilateral discussion and intensify the process of Ukraine’s transformation.
