Clear Energy is among the three largest biogas companies in Ukraine!

This is evidenced by the rating of the publication “BusinessCensor”.

For today, the company has built and operates 14 facilities with a total capacity of 15.2 MW. And it’s not just about electricity generation – the technologies developed and used by Clear Energy are of great environmental importance. The main capacities of the company are landfill degassing stations. Electricity is generated from landfill methane, which is generated at landfills. It must be disposed of – it is harmful to humans and the environment, and also causes fires. The technologies used by the company allow not only to safely utilize methane, but also to get significant benefits from this gas.

Another biogas activity of the company is wood gasification. Electricity and heat are generated from logging and wood processing waste at the company’s enterprises. Thermal energy is supplied to the general heating network of the city for heating and hot water supply. Gasification technology is currently considered the most efficient and widely used in Europe and the United States. In Ukraine, Clear Energy was the first and so far the only one on an industrial scale to introduce it. The company, by the way, has established its own production of gasifiers.

Among the leaders in bioenergy are also the agricultural holding MHP – 17.5 MW and “Teofipolska Energy Company” – 15.6 MW. The main advantage of the industry is the projected, sustainable production of electricity (compared to other RES) and a huge sanitary-ecological function. In fact, all bioenergy facilities operate on waste (landfill gas, logging residues, crop residues, livestock waste, etc.) and thus dispose of them.

According to the National Commission for Regulation of Economic Competition, in 2020 there are 51 biogas plants in Ukraine with a total capacity of 96.7 MW. 5 years ago there were only 12 biogas plants with an installed capacity of 18 MW. In 2019, their number increased to 46, and the total capacity – up to 72 MW.

Now biogas occupies 3% in the structure of electricity production from renewable energy sources.
