Will Ukraine be with heat?

Last season, heat supply companies lost billions of hryvnias because many people simply stopped paying.

Now some heat suppliers are unable to pay their gas suppliers. This means that they will not receive fuel at the most crucial moment – the beginning of the heating season.

Sergiy Savchuk, head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency in 2014-2019 and now CEO of Clear Energy, believes that only urgent government intervention will save the situation. It is already necessary to decide from which sources to repay debts at the level of the Ministry of Regional Policy and local self-government.

“This is a glaring debt! And when in a month and a half it will be necessary to start the operation of boiler rooms to supply heat to hospitals and kindergartens, and gas suppliers will not supply gas to teplokomuenergo, everyone will start thinking – how to solve this question. And it was necessary to think even earlier. And don’t just raise tariffs! Raising tariffs using outdated, worn-out thermal infrastructure is a crime against the population! There are many ways to solve this problem. This is, for example, the introduction of energy efficiency measures. This is the replacement of gas with local raw materials. Modern technologies allow to provide quality services without raising tariffs. Investors are ready to invest in it, if, of course, the state creates favorable conditions. Thus, from 2014 to 2019, 500 million EUR was invested in heat generation companies from alternative energy sources. And for this alternative heat, consumers pay an average of 10% cheaper than for “gas”.

And this year, for some reason, nobody talks about gas replacement at all. Does everyone forget that gas will rise in price? But it was obvious! And we had to prepare for that!”
